THRIVE – Account Types and FAQs

14 September 2023

THRIVE (THeatre Rooms In Virtual Environments) is an online platform for hospital use, recording and reviewing room usage and data from Endoscopy and related departments. Once your hospital or trust is signed up, access is straightforward through any modern internet browser. As always, we offer direct help through our support desk at support@informpeople.com.

To support tailored access for all our products, we embrace permission based access and make sure roles and locations are used to keep all actions specific, relevant and secure. This applies to THRIVE, PRIME and Virtual PA for business use too.

Types of THRIVE accounts and what they provide:

Room Account:

The THRIVE Room Account is the most basic account available, and is used in each Room/Theatre to record all the information that THRIVE processes. It’s these accounts that Nurses, Healthcare Assistants and List Leads will log into and use for every list recorded on THRIVE. If you need any help using this type of account we have a short video guide available here.

Room Account FAQs:

When do I press the Start/Stop buttons?

THRIVE operates on a feet in, feet out policy. This means the moment a patient enters the room you can press the start button and the moment they leave the room you can press the stop button.

A patient has cancelled their appointment before the list started, should I still record this cancellation?

Yes. If a patient has cancelled their appointment at such short notice that their spot is unable to be refilled then this should be marked down as a cancellation.

Can we reopen a procedure/list?

If a procedure has been ‘stopped’ and entered turnaround time then the procedure can be reentered by using the padlock symbol next to the procedure as long as the next one has not been started. Beyond this stage, no procedures can be reentered and no lists can be changed retrospectively, this is to protect data validity. If a list has been recorded in error it can be excluded from reporting by contacting support@informpeople.com with details about the relevant list.

List Admin Account:

This account is most often used by Unit Managers and Admins for visibility of all the rooms in their hospital or trust and is used to plan all lists for the following day. This account gives a live view of what’s occurring at any time in every room, making it easy to see when lists are starting and finishing; particularly useful for those working at multisite trusts. These accounts can also be used to quickly plan lists for all rooms at a trust rather than planning lists one room at a time. If you need any help using this type of account we have a short video guide available here.

List Admin FAQs:

What do the Blue/Green bubbles mean?

The blue bubbles denote the planned points of a list, while the green bubbles denote the achieved points of a list (after completion).

Why is there a list with a blue bubble on the THRIVE monitor but not on reporting?

If a list is not started it will still appear on the THRIVE monitor with a blue bubble to show that the list was planned and to how many points. However if the list was never started in the room the list will be set to ignored and not included in reporting, meaning it will not affect any utilisation figures.

We started a list but the blue bubble shows a zero, why?

In this situation the list was used incorrectly in the room, and at some point the list was left open indefinitely (either the Stop button was not pressed after a procedure, or the End Session button was not pressed to finalise the session). In this situation the THRIVE system recognises that a list is running overtime but should be concluded and automatically closes the session. From these lists we can take information on procedures completed or cancelled, but not on the time or points allocated as they would skew other data pieces, hence the reason the points bubble on the monitor shows as zero.

Reporting Account:

A reporting account gives senior managers access to all the information being recorded at the site or sites they are responsible for. There are two main features of this account, the first of which is an overview that provides a view summary of information with chosen filters at a given location. There is also a search function allowing additional access to find lists according to set criteria; such as ‘all lists performed by a particular scopist’, ‘all lists with a late start’ or ‘all lists planned to a certain number of points’ among other criteria. If you need any help using this type of account we have a short video guide available here.

Reporting FAQs:

Why are my average list duration and points being taken from fewer lists than were completed?

If a list is left open and not closed correctly then the added time would skew reports of list times and actual points values. In order to mitigate this we exclude these lists from averages containing time or points. We still take completed/cancelled procedures from these lists.

How do the Average List Duration values work?

The list time is the total average time that a list took in your filtered range. The live time and the turnaround time sum to the list time as these values are the cumulative time that was spent performing procedures per list and the cumulative time spent in turnaround per list respectively. To see the average turnaround time per list rather than the cumulative turnaround time per list select the Turnaround (Average) tab.

How do the Average Points values work?

The Expected value is the average of the planned points, while the Achieved value is the average of the achieved points. The achieved points is not a value of time, it is a value of the expected points minus the value of the points of any cancelled procedures. The ‘actual value’ is a value of time, converted into points, and it is the ‘Live’ time from our list duration statistic. Finally the ratio shows you a comparison of the three different values.

Tailored access to make the data matter

None of these accounts can do all things – although some senior staff may have access to each type of account, they are kept separate to maintain purpose and clarity. If you have any further questions, we are only an email away at support@informpeople.com
