Following a number of positive meetings with Trusts using the THRIVE system, we’ve now added in a further three tags to the recently launched tags system.
These should provide greater clarity in reporting going forward.
Anaesthesia:
This tag will be used for any list containing at least one patient who require anaesthesia for their procedure. Requiring anaesthesia can result in longer procedures and also longer turnaround times so it is important to be able to separate these lists in reporting and view them as an individual group to aid in future list planning decisions.
Off Unit Procedure:
This tag is to be used in the rare circumstances where a procedure in a list must occur off the unit and requires staff/equipment to be transported elsewhere. These types of procedures will lead to extreme turnaround times and we want to capture this data to ensure we fully understand how performing a procedure in another department impacts list times and patients seen.
Specialist:
This tag can be applied to lists considered ‘out of the ordinary’ if they have required more specialist treatment or encounter unexpected situations. If a list contains trial procedure or unique procedure requiring more/less time than usual, or different staff or equipment, this tag can be used so we are able to denote the difference between a regular list and a unique ‘specialist’ one. The tag can also be used for Portal Hypertension Lists where applicable.
