Inform People’s Modern Slavery Statement
This statement has been published in accordance with Section 54 of the Modern Slavery Act 2015. Modern slavery is a worldwide issue which is found in many workplaces.
The National Crime Agency defines Modern Slavery as “the recruitment, movement, harbouring or receiving of children, women or men through the use of force, coercion, abuse of vulnerability, deception or other means for the purpose of exploitation”.
COMMITMENT
As a company, Inform People acknowledges its responsibilities in relation to tackling modern slavery and commits to complying with the Modern Slavery Act 2015 and all local and national laws.
Inform People understands that this requires an ongoing review of both the internal practices in relation to its labour force and its supply chains and doesn’t enter into business with any other organisation, which knowingly supports or is found to involve itself in slavery, servitude and forced or compulsory labour.
Inform People does not tolerate modern slavery or human trafficking in any aspect of its business, and holds each of its suppliers to the same zero-tolerance standard (regardless of the nature, scale or jurisdiction of their business).
Inform People maintains that:
- Employees have freedom to terminate their employment, freedom of movement and freedom of association
- Inform People prohibits any threat of violence, harassment and intimidation. Prohibits the use of worker-paid recruitment fees, prohibits compulsory overtime, prohibits child labour, prohibits discrimination, and prohibits confiscation of workers original identification documents.
- Inform People provides access to remedy, compensation and justice for victims of modern slavery
RISK ANALYSIS
- Generally, Inform People considers the risk of modern slavery or human trafficking occurring within its or its businesses’ supply chain to be low.
The principal reasons for this are:
- We are a small UK-based business with all employees based in the UK, with Right to Work in the UK, paid above minimum wage. Employees also have enforced working hours and management make sure that all holiday allowance is used.
- We do not provide physical goods to our clients so there is no supply chain to interrogate. Our only suppliers are AWS cloud storage, their Modern Slavery Statement can be found here. We review AWS’s modern slavery statement to make sure it meets (or exceeds) our own requirements annually.
- Any suppliers are considered with relation to the following and not worked with of they exhibit or are known for any of the following:
– Aggressive pricing that does not consider sustainable production costs
– Short lead times
– Late high-volume orders
– Inaccurate forecasting
– Late or extended payments
– Withdrawn from contracts last minute
– Unfair penalties for not meeting orders despite last minute changes
– Inaccurate technical specifications - Inform People’s key clients are large organisations with robust and sophisticated prevention and compliance policies (overseen by professional compliance teams) in relation to modern slavery and human trafficking
EFFECTIVENESS
At no time since its formation has Inform People encountered, or been the subject of any allegations or complaints of, any occurrence of modern slavery or human trafficking within its business or supply chain.
Whilst this is encouraging, Inform People acknowledges a continuing obligation to ensure that its relevant policies and strategies remain fit for purpose as the scale of its business and operations develop over time.
This statement is made available to all employees, alongside other policies and training (revisited annually), to ensure that all employees are committed to the most recent standards of best practices to reduce the risk of modern slavery and human trafficking.
