Pathways
Pathways are a way for organisations to structure and simplify all of those different tasks that need to be completed and give you a quick and easy holistic picture of overall performance.
Identified Industry Issues
At work, people can be assigned a great amount of tasks that are part of their everyday role responsibilities but when it goes beyond the day-to-day there needs to be a way to give structure for progression – to match a training manual or an established pathway to success, but online.

Inform People’s Solution
Pathways bring together actions from various other platform modules that are beyond the ‘day-to-day’.
We know that when developing new business tools, the key focus is on making roles and responsibilities clear, tasks easy to action, information directly available and opportunities for continuous performance improvement.
We think we’ve nailed this with Pathways.
It is a solution for grouping tasks together that are aligned to achieve a specific goal – such as onboarding, management training or location specific training. This stops these tasks being disparate actions and gives people a goal, a cohesive purposeful approach, and by grouping tasks together really straightforward reporting for managers.
Keeping up with your business's performance
Helping team members know what they need to do to stay compliant, guiding managers through the next steps to career development and giving all management roles the visibility of how the business is performing and where they need to focus their attention.
What you get
- Structured order for tasks
- Clear reporting for completion
- Replace offline training programmes
- Automate and standardise processes
- Bring all actions into one simple user journey

Let’s get technical for a moment.
There’s a few bits of setup to consider with Pathways which make them so flexible and applicable to a wide variety of situations:
- Completion order
- Access setup
- Contents
Pathways can be set up in two ways – ‘free’ or ‘fixed’ completion.
Free completion allows all tasks grouped within a Pathway to be completed in any order – people will usually be expected to complete them all in a timely manner, but they aren’t restricted to do any particular task first. This gives flexibility and is the more commonly used approach.
Fixed order completion instead means that all the tasks in a Pathway must be completed one after the other – with the next only opening for access once the first is completed. For example, if there is an introductory event to a management training Pathway, a trainee would need to be marked as having attended and completed the relevant event by the event leader before they could access the next task in their Pathway.
We use ‘Filters’ so that people’s accounts get the right access to their modules and tasks, these are ways to combine many aspects of identifying information such as job roles, specific location or business area, attributes, time at the business (based on start date), or even other previously completed actions within platform modules.
These filters allow tasks both in and out of Pathways to be assigned to exactly the people who need to complete them, and if anyone suddenly qualifies for a Filter they are automatically included in it and get access to their tasks and information without hands on manual updates. This automation makes everyone’s days easier and takes the headache out of assigning compliance tasks and learning.
Pathways can require tasks from most of our platform modules to be completed, these are:
- Memos, Surveys, Courses, Policies, Guides or Risk Assessments
- Knowledge Base items
- Knowledge Shares
- Events – as an attendee or leader
- Collections
- Audits – as an auditor or as a witness
- Links – to any website or internal Inform People link
When it comes to building out the right Pathways for you team – it is more about the cohesive approach – the ‘one place to look’ and easy reporting for tracking completion reflects everyone’s growth and achievements. Our teams work with you when setting up your platform to look over your current processes and documents and suggest the ways that they fit into our digital solutions – listening to you the whole time and using industry best practice to get it right.
